Neil Billington for State Rep #43

A Democratic Leader who will not sit-back!

.The People of Michigan Deserve Better!

. . .Having lived here in Oakland County my entire life, I have shared the good and the bad times that many Michigan Families have gone through.  I know the direction to take to bring back the qualities in life so many are missing in their lives today.

The hard working middle class is the “wheel” that turns the economy.

When the “Wheel” is turning,

Life is Good

and Michigan is the place to be!

.. Back in the 1980′s, while working at General Motors, I earned my Associate Degree in Business Management from Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan.  I will admit, I did not make it onto the dean’s list.  But, I do have “common sense” and over 40 years of  business experience acquired through hard work, talent and time invested on the job.  I am also well respected by my peers for getting the job done!   At one time or another during my work career, I have been: an Elected UAW Plant Official, a Community Leader on Rochester Hills City Council and a Member of the Building Authority as well, a Business Owner and Partnership of (2) Burger Kings Restaurants also which were located in Rochester Hills, owner of Bloomfield Suburban Landscaping and Billington Landscape and Snowplow Services in Oakland County, a builder and developer for Coach Lamp Hills of Rochester Hills and President of White Lake Sandy Beach Association.  Adding to the list of achievements is the role I played while being an active member of many community organizations in-and-around Oakland County Michigan through out the years.

.

To those of you who say, “You must have a degree in order to proceed.”

IT doesn’t mean a thing if all you’ve done is read!

If what you’ve learn, you do not apply…

To get the job done, common senses, talent, and knowledge must be applied.

Too many of our elected officials make things so complicated,

even they can’t figure things out!

.

It doesn’t take a “rocket scientist” to do the right thing.

.

. . . I am a Leader, and my reputation proves it!  Just Ask anyone who has ever known or worked beside me at GM Truck and Bus.  They all knew if Billington said it, you could count on it!  I always kept my word to the employees that worked on the job for me. They came first and were always at the top of my priority list!  That’s how I earned their respect.   I represented 9636 employees for 18 years as their Local 594UAW Leader!  I was the go-to-guy, when a job had to be done Right NOW!  I was given the nick-name “HAMMER” for doing so!  With the status of a Management Level-6, I retired from General Motors Truck and Bus in 1992 with 28-1/4 years invested.

.

I have worn and walked in many different shoes in my life.

I am made of all things to all men,

so that I might by all means, save some.

(1 Corinthians 9:22)
.

. . .I know, in my heart that I can do the job that needs to be done!  I am the one who can and WILL stand-up for what is good and right for all people who want to call Michigan their home!  Instead of the, “special selected group of people” who seem to be having it all their own way.

Good Stewardship

Michigan belongs to those who will protect her

against all evils and not exploit her!

Neil Billington

A Democratic Leader who will not sit-back!

If ever there was a time to Elect a strong Leader, now is the time!

. . . .The People of Michigan deserve the right to demand leadership accountability from the people in office representing them!  With so many important and critical issues to be addressed in this up coming 2014 Election, the People of Michigan need to know they can depend on Candidates they support and endorse to lookout for their best interest and be mindful of them when it comes to important decisions affecting their way of life and well being.  The time is well past due to start holding elected officials accountable for their actions in the role they play in our government.

Vote in the PRIMARY Election, Tuesday, August 5th, 2014

.

.

I decided to run as a

Democrat Candidate for

State Representative back in 2012

.

..Because MY

 State Rep Voted in Favor

..

PUBLIC ACT 4 of 2011

The “Emergency Financial Manager” Law

.   . This new law gives the Governor full power to over rule the Voters decision by eliminating any persons holding an elected city official office, municipality or school board position without collective bargaining rights or honoring previously negotiated contracts. Instead of hiring a “shadow” person to help assist in resolving the financial crises and getting things back on tract, the individual or group of people are Fired!   They are then replaced by a ridiculously over paid E.F.M. (by the way, this term has been changed several times since going into effect) and staff, who often are incapable of handling the “appointed” position and quit!  In doing so, leave a larger financial burden and worst mess than what was originally present.  Besides, this new law goes against the Michigan State Constitution and the Voice of The People!

.

My State Rep also Voted in favor with the Governor for

.

PUBLIC ACT 38 of 2011

The  “Senior Pension and Property Tax”  Law  .

. . .This new law places a new Tax on public and private pensions on anyone born between Jan. 1, 1946 and Dec. 31, 1952.  Their retirement income will now be taxed at 4.35 percent (now in 2014 – 4.25%) starting at $20,000 and above if they are single filers and anything above $40,000 if they are joint filers.  This new Tax also reduces the homestead property tax relief for seniors and other homeowners, and eliminated the senior exemption from the state income tax.  This was signed into law on May 25th, 2011.

..

At a time

when Michigan Families are

struggling to make ends meet,

this is just plain wrong!

.

Do  THEY

really care about

YOU ?

.

IF “They” Really Cared about Our Seniors like they say they do,

WHY then, did THEY  Vote in favor of TAXING

Retired Senior Citizens Pensions?

. . .This “new tax law” assaulted our Senior Citizens with a Senior Pension Tax on their retirement income!   And, to add insult to injury, this new tax law also created an additional increase in Property Taxes on our Senior Citizens Retirement Homes!  Both new Tax increases went into effect January 1st, 2012!

.

WHAT WERE  “THEY“  THINKING ?

.

. . .It’s already hard enough for many seniors to meet the financial demands they face in their everyday living, let alone worrying about Medical Bills, Prescriptions, Insurance, Utilities, Groceries, and final expenses!

.

The current State Rep of District 43

. . .Ms. Haines held the position of “Assistant Associate Whip” in the Republican Caucus during her 2010-2012 term.   The “Caucus Whip” assumes the duty of “whipping” the Republican House of Representatives - into line! Making sure they understand the issues at hand and to influence their decisions to follow their “respected” party line in-agreement on issues regarding legislation that is lead by the Governor!

SHE KNEW BETTER!

And, instead of doing the “right thing” went along with

the Governor and other Majority House Leaders

to intentionally betrayed Voters by

VOTING against them !

.

IF She Really Cared, . .

WHY is her name on this List?

.

PUBLIC ACT 38 of 2011

Haines is On-Record for VOTING YES!

TAXING Our Senior Citizen’s Pensions and

Increase Their Property Taxes!

IF She Really Cared, WHY is her name on this list?

.

Shame on You!

.

Give Seniors

the Respect and Confidence they Deserve!.

.

People of District 43

If ever there was a time to

Elect a strong Leader,

.

Now Is that Time!

Make Michigan Families Priority #1

.

I say,

It’s time to . . .

CLOSE Corporate Loop Holes!

. . . It is no new news to many of us, that even starting with last year alone as reported by the Institute for Policy Studies, 25 major U.S. corporations’ chief executives were paid more than they paid in federal income tax!  It’s time to close the tax loopholes and off shore havens.  These people need to pay their fair share.  This recovered Tax Money would help immensely to help cut state and national deficits. Approximately 26% or $375 Billion of the current annual national deficit can be attributed to the tax cuts enacted during the GW Bush administration.  AND, Michigan’s Governor Rick Snyder and the members of the G.O.P. are no different when it comes to thinking along these same guidelines!

.

REFORM  TAXES

Everyone pays Their fair share.

The High Cost of Living

. . . Let’s Stop the highway robbery of high Fuel and Utility costs.  Minimum Wage should not be lower than a gallon of gas or the cost of a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk.  Take the “Ouch” out of Cable or Phone connections that put a pinch in your wallet!  Re-structure our economy so that businesses are attracted to Michigan without holding our residents for ransom to pay their expensive costs for services.  More money in the pocket of consumers will generate a better economy.

and Shrinking Benefits!

. . . Protect Michigan Families from all types of predators including; going without work place benefits, sky-rocketing medical costs from insurance companies, pharmaceuticals, hospitals and doctors that raise the price of services to clients, customers and patients due to their ability to pay or not pay.  Accountability is gravely needed!

These are real issues Michigan Families are facing!

. . . The People of Michigan deserve better! Officials elected into office – by Us – Work for Us!  Make sure your voice is heard this election,  be M“powered!  Get the word out to Vote!  Get the right candidates elected into office, otherwise the “politicians” will continue to follow the hand of big money and  the lead of special interest groups who are trying to re-shape this country into the very rich and the very poor!  The gap is growing wider and wider everyday and without proper intervention – the hard working middle class who built this great country will diminish, plan and simple.
